CSI Hebrew School

Congregation Shaarey Israel, conveniently located in Suffern & close to Bergen County, is a traditional congregation that warmly welcomes Jews of any background and level of practice.  Membership is not required for your child to join our Hebrew school.

Led by our Rabbi Elchanan Weinbach, the Hebrew School at Congregation Shaarey Israel is dedicated to enriching the lives of Jewish children through meaningful Jewish learning experiences.  Our warm and experienced teachers foster a love and connection to Judaism that will last a lifetime.

Our “experiential learning” curriculum is engaging, rewarding and fun, and is designed to meet the needs of all children between the ages of 5-13 years young. Small groups and individualized attention allow us cater to your child’s learning style and maximize his/her learning potential. Most importantly, we want each child to “want to be here” and love receiving a Jewish education.

Our classrooms are warm, welcoming, and have informal spaces furnished with tables and area rugs instead of desks.  All of our students use iPads provided by the school to make learning more engaging and differentiated.

Our two core curriculum areas are Judaic studies and Hebrew literacy. In addition, enrichment activities include: music, fine arts, film making, creative dramatics, cooking, Israel studies and field trips. We have designated focus areas for arts and Hebrew literacy.
